Operational area of responsibility:
North to Island Head Creek - South to Cape Capricorn -
East approximately 50 nautical mile

Details of vessels:
The primary rescue vessel is Gormans Removal Rescue 9.8m Kevla Cat with twin 300hp Suzuki outboards.

Secondary Rescue Vessel "John Sturgess" is a 7.3 meter Noosa built Shark Cat powered by 2X200hp Yamaha outboards.

To provide security for vessels, trip sheets are provided at our operations centre and vessels leaving Rosslyn Bay are encouraged to fill one out before departing. We also monitor the Marine radio network, keeping a listening watch on 27 meg , VHF, and HF bands as follows:-
27 meg. - Channels 27.88 &, 27.86 meg
VHF - Channels 16 (emergency only), 21 and 22 (talk channels)
HF - Channel 2524

Weather reports are broadcast direct from Rockhampton meteorolical office at 7.10am, 10.10am, 12.10pm and 5.10pm.

The Operations Centre at Rosslyn Bay operates on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays between the hours of 0630 and 1800. The remaining days of the week are covered by Coast Guard Flotilla QF20 at Keppel Sands., and night times by our outpost radio operator.

Regular courses are run by the Flotilla to qualify members of the public in the operation of Marine Radios, and anyone wishing to attend these courses should contact the Operations Centre on 07 49 33 66 00.
