OUR NIPPERS

Junior (Nippers) is for boys and girls from 5 years to 14 years. The Nipper program runs from the first weekend in October through to March, on Sunday mornings commencing at 9.00 am and finishing at 11.00 am. Nippers learn basic surf survival skills and develop self confidence through water and beach activities. They can participate in carnivals against local clubs through to State Championships.

BEACH PATROL AND SENIORS

Main Beach Emu Park is patrolled on Saturday afternoons and Sundays from mid September through to Labour Day. Patrols are all day Saturday from November to February and a Lifeguard is on duty during the September, Christmas and Easter school holidays. Senior lifesavers start at age 15 and there is no upper limit! All lifesavers maintain a fitness standard and must be able to swim 400 metres in 9 minutes in a pool. For high school students gaining the Bronze Medallion earns 4 points for the Queensland Certificate of Education.

Senior lifesavers also compete in a range of surf sports from surf boat rowing; swimming; board and ski paddling; ironman (woman) and beach sprints and flags.
